UFC 122 Prospects Competition: Preliminary Card Filled With Lesser Known Fighters and Gambling Possibility
There are those in the masses of MMA fandom that do not enjoy the UFC’s efforts to become a genuinely worldwide brand and try to get in the European market, particularly the UFC 122 odds event which will be presented in Oberhausen Germany on November 13th.
And it is not that these enthusiasts are anti-European or anti German. It’s just that the roster for this German smack down is less than ideal. As we discovered last month with the UFC 120 sport gambling event put on in London England, planners are likely to fill the fighting lineup with home grown skill (or at least European talent) in an effort to build a larger enthusiast base in the huge Euro market which has so far rejected MMA as a sporting option.
The UFC 122 wagering action will offer three German fighters and several other European competitors at the sports book. The main difficulty with this is that the German MMA arena is relatively minor and practically none of German competitors in the UFC 122 probabilities tournament are known beyond the borders of their villages or cities and particularly not to almost all of the UFC buffs. So despite the fact that there are more Germans than typical on the card, they won’t be met with more support from enthusiasts.
The sport of MMA has been met with significant criticism in the nation by its press and government. It’s formerly headed to minors being forbidden from the first German UFC competition, UFC 99, and this it year it’s directed to the sport being prohibited from being broadcast totally. The Germans have found the “extent of violence shown to be unacceptable” and so the competition will be shown by tape delay on Spike TV here in the u.s., but not at all in the nation it’s in fact being presented in.
The reality that the Main Card headlining matchup in the UFC 122 wagering action will include Nate Marquardt and Yushin Okami in a match in which the victor is not even assured a possibility at the division title says a great deal about the expertise level of the competition in Oberhausen.
But that does not necessarily mean bad news for the MMA supporters wants to play the UFC 122 prospects. While these competitors might not be very popular and never amount to much on the UFC fighting arena, their relative anonymity offers plenty of wagering opportunity for the savvy fanatics inclined to do a little homework and find a bit more about these mysterious fighters.
Take for example Pascal Krauss, a German welterweight who is planned to fight Englishman Mark Scanlon on the Preliminary card. He’s 6’1”, 170 lbs and he has never lost an MMA contest in his life. He has a best 9-0 record in MMA competition, 7 of the wins by submission. He could be next big factor in UFC!
Why not consider Karlos Vemola, the Czech fighter nicknamed the “Terminator” with a 7-1 record, who will be trying to wipe the mat with American Seth Petruzelli in the light heavyweight division.
There is lots of relatively unknown skill out there just waiting to be found and bet on by MMA fanatics in the impending UFC 122 Main Event.
