Big and Tall Men’s Clothing – Finding Exactly What You Want
Probably 30 or 40 years ago XXXL were known to shoppers as big and tall men’s clothing. But now it’s a little different because even an extra large size is considered big and tall. Ok, what’s happening is the labels are showing smaller sizes because designers are targeting smaller people with their lines. This runs rampant in women’s clothing but has affected the men’s clothing industry as well. What this means, though, is that there are tons of clothing stores now with big and tall men’s clothes. Here is how to shop for the clothing you need and get the best deals possible.
First, although sometimes it’s tempting – avoid buying without trying on the clothes you want. Because clothing sizes are no longer standard, you can no longer simply assume that all of the clothes with an XL label are the same size. There can be wild variations with some being huge on you, while others being grossly too small. You can easily avoid having to go back to the store for a refund or to find something that actually fits. Simply trying them on first can possibly save you some headaches, later. Think about it: how often have you gotten something home only to discover that what looked good on the hanger does not look good on you?
Prepare for shopping by wearing pants that are loose-fitting and shoes that aren’t a hassle to take on and off. Just makes things go smoother with trying on so many clothes. Having to deal with lots of snaps and buttons and laces in a dressing room is no one’s idea of a good time. So take a hint and wear things you can easily slip on/off. And you’ll spend less time in the dressing rooms and be done faster. Many stores have a limit to the number of clothes you can take into a dressing room, so this idea will help with that situation.
Ok – always check-out the racks with sales items, first. Sometimes unusual sizes that don’t sell fast are placed on the sales racks. This is because the “normal” sizes of clothing usually sell out while the clothing is regularly priced; leaving the super small sizes and the bigger sizes for the sales racks when the new season’s clothing lines come in. This is one time when being a size that is not considered “normal” can actually work to your advantage and save you quite a bit of money!
It’s not as difficult as it used to be to find big and tall men’s clothing you like. Today’s big and tall men’s clothing is yesterday’s “regular” sized clothing. Thanks to vanity sizing more and more stores have to carry clothing in this category to keep their customers happy. All that means is you really should not have a hard time finding something you like in the size that’s right.
