How to find amazing window display ideas?
- Photography websites like Flickr, Smugmug, Zooomr, … When the theme in your window is let’s say nature, you can simply search for it and find a ton of suggestions. Or just use Google or Bing or any of the other search engines out there. Do an image search. That’s a bit of a no brainer. Keep in mind, don’t just replicate an object or a situation in every single detail, instead recreate the beauty.
- Store windows on Twitter. http://www.twitter.com/storewindows A very good resource when you want the latest & most amazing visual ideas out there. Just let your brain go wild and get more customers in your store which will ultimately lead to more sales.
- Books. History books, fairytale books, books about nature or books about certain lifestyles or holidays. There’re plenty of bookstores out there, both offline and online. They’re great for inspiration.
- Magazines on visual merchandising & retail. VMSD http://www.vmsd.com and ddimagazine or two magazines that cover the retail industry and provide you with refreshing ideas and news.
- Creative store windows on Squidoo. http://www.squidoo.com/storewindows When you know the topic, theme, concept or the holiday and you want an in depth look at killer window displays from around the world, then this is definitely a place you need to take a look at.
- Antique shops, flea markets and websites like ebay. They’re not just great for finding ideas, but for buying some of the props you may need to turn your idea into reality.
- The world around you. Look around you and always be ready. There’re ideas everywhere.
