Professional Photography Props
As a parent, what kind of professional pictures would you want?
I just got a job at a photography studio for kids.
I don’t have experience with photography, so I’m a bit nervous. The studio knows this and they’re going to train me, but I’m interested in knowing what parents would look for. Close ups? Props involved? What kind of pictures would make you most happy?
Also, what kind of things make your little ones smile? I know the normal making sounds and funny faces,but anything else that really gets a great smile?
I really want to be great at this job, so any advice is appreciated

The biggest thing is to get the child comfortable with you. Each child is different.
The photographer who just took my daughter’s 2 year photos let her “take a picture” by letting her press the button that makes the flash go off. She also let my daughter take pictures with mommy to get comfortable before she did solo pictures.
It helps a ton if you get on their level.
Props are great if they add to the photo, not distract. We had great fun with a big #2 – fantastic pictures because they let her play with it and be herself. We also have great pictures from when she turned one of her smashing a cupcake – priceless!
