Spending Some Doggy Time Together
The word pet is not something you can always apply to dogs. They’re the one friend we can count on to stay by our side no matter what we have done. It’s not enough that we feed them and give them a place to stay. Keeping them strong and healthy would take some work.
The time you spend with your dog is one way to create a stronger bond with your best friend. The more time you spend time with your dog, then the more your dog learns to trust you; time spent together makes you familiar with each others’ moods, gestures and feelings.
Teaching a dog new trick doesn’t have to be such a serious business, you’re dog will learn better if he’s having fun and so will you, making your dog more eager to learn new tricks.
You can start with Follow The Leader. Call other pet owners so you can play this game with your dogs. First you need to put some cones or can on the ground to serve as roadblocks, then you have to get your dog to follow as you do rounds around the obstacle; this would be a good way to teach your dog to come to you when you say their name. To reinforce what the dog has learned, see if you can have the leaders change places and then go through the whole procedure again.
Play Hide and Seek. Getting your dog to stay in one place while you go hide will teach him discipline and to stay in place until otherwise directed, then once you’re hidden you can call him to search for you this will develop his hunting abilities and to come when called.
You can twist the game a bit by changing the target; instead of you, get your dog to search for the hidden treats in store for him.
This would be one good way to practice his hunting skill and to reward him for his efforts as well.
You could also bring your dog with you when you go out for your early morning jog. A good run will get your heart pumping and blood back to your veins, same goes for your dog too, of course. Instead of just jogging around in circles, bring a stick and play fetch with your dog; this will build up the muscles in his limbs and increase his reaction time, not to mention that this will also serve as a bonding time or a ritual to strengthen your relationship.
So you see, you can have some fun with your dog through different activities. Your dog learns how to behave properly when you take the time to play these games with him, it also makes the owner appreciate the times he spend with his dog better.
