All of us have been on a date at least once before in our lives. And through these positive and negative experience, we have learned several things to do and not to do in order to impress your date, may it be male or female, regardless of age.

There are certain dating rules that should be second nature to everyone. You will certainly need to stand out in the right way on a first date. Never, ever keep your partner waiting and be neat in your manner of dress. Clothes make the man – or woman – and tardiness is never cool. On the other side of things, try complimenting your date on how he or she looks or on what he or she is wearing. Flattery can go a long way because it’s no joke preparing for a date.

Enjoy yourself when dating. Show your date the best and most fascinating side of you as he or she does the same. Don’t leave your date hanging and be honest if things don’t turn out as expected. Do not give your date any false hopes. Try your best to be honest, yet polite if you don’t want to date the person again.

Only date the people you really like and find interesting. Stay optimistic regardless of the date’s outcome. More often than not your date may turn out to be a nice person and a trustworthy friend.

As long as it’s okay with your date, add a sense of thrill to your date by thinking out of the box and going to new places that you and your date will both find interesting.

Be proactive when dating. You can’t expect a date to fall on your lap just like that. Never restrict yourself to one option unless you’re really sure – just go out and be friendly. If you’re not a good talker, then practice with coworkers, bartenders, waiters or other people you encounter everyday. Being friendly is always appealing regardless of the person you date.

Aside from staying positive, it’s also nice to have friends who are also single and optimistic about their romantic future. They can be a great help whether things are going well or not in your dating life. There will always be friends who don’t see dating the way you do – be wary of them and stick with the positive ones when talking dating.
